Photo Friday: Alma, Kansas Business District, 1965

Alma Busn Dist 1965

This 1965 view of the Alma, Kansas business district looks north at the intersection of 3rd and Missouri Streets.

This 1965 view of the historic business district in Alma, Kansas looks north at the intersection of Missouri and 3rd Streets.  Every building in this photo is still standing today, except one, the third from the left.  Meseke’s Plumbing and Heating, 305 Missouri St., burned in the early 1970s and was replaced with a new building.

Only one business building in this view is still owned and operated by the same owners who were there in 1965, and that is Hendricks’ Hardware, the fourth building from the right in this view.

Notice the fine 1959 Chevrolet convertible at the far right.
