It’s Photo Friday!

The Eskridge State Bank and Marshall Harkness’ Department Store are seen in this 1950s view from Eskridge, Kansas
Here’s a great photo taken in the early 1950s of the north end of the 100 block of South Main Street in Eskridge, Kansas. In the center of this view, we see the Eskridge State Bank at the right and Marshall Harkness’ Department Store which were located on the west side of the street. At the far left edge of the view the building says “Eskridge Co-op” on the window, and at the far right of the image one sees the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe depot.
An old friend of mine, Russell Taylor, a lifelong resident of Eskridge, let me copy this photo years ago. Russell was a really classy guy, smart, with a good sense of humor. When he was showing me this photo, he pointed to the Ford parked in front of the bank. “That’s my 1950 Ford,” he said pointing to the car. Then he winked at me and added, “it was mint green!”
